The comedian has alleged that Star Plus has refused to air his act recorded for the aforementioned reality show. According to a report by The Wire, Rangeela said, “Almost after a month almost after the episode was originally recorded, I got a phone call from the production team of the reality show asking me to shoot a new act because the channel decided not to air it.”
He further added, “The production team told me that the decision to not air my act was taken because the channel feared that it will offend some people and they might protest against them.” He was also asked to re-record the act and told that he can mimic Rahul Gandhi but not Narendra Modi.
He has posted his hilarious take on the Indian politicians earlier as well. Last November he had posted a video, titled “Modiji’s reaction on Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hain.”
The Logical Indian has reached out to Star India and is awaiting their response.
The Logical Indian Take
The Logical Indian community strongly condemns the act of creative censorship propagated by the Star India authorities. The mimicry was purely enacted out of zest and is essentially meant for fun. It certainly did not have any abusive content or did not aim to demean or hurt anybody’s sentiments. This act of self-censorship only refers to political appeasement, trying to take sides only with a particular party.
